I currently work as the creative co-ordinator for the Dylan Thomas Estate and, in this capacity, I have recently been involved with creating a comprehensive new website, writing a regular blog and overseeing the social media. I have also been working closely with a variety of groups and companies to successfully steer their projects forward. Furthermore, from 2011 – 2015, I joined organisations such as: the Welsh Government, the Welsh Art’s Council, Literature Wales and the BBC to organise a very successful year-long literature and art’s festival, ‘Dylan Thomas 100.’

For an extensive list of work, please get in touch here and I’d be happy to help.

Consulting Areas:

  • Literature in education
  • Literature in tourism
  • Literature in the community
  • Literature in arts & media

I am an experienced teacher and have used these skills, and my passion for literature and the arts, to help design and deliver a number of education programmes. In particular, I advised the Welsh Government’s Department of Education and Literature Wales on a bilingual literacy programme. It brought Dylan Thomas’s writing to the children and young people of Wales and beyond, through creative workshops, a prestigious international competition, and a live music and spoken word tour.

As part of the steering group for Dylan Thomas 100, I collaborated with representatives from Visit Wales, Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion County Councils, as well as the national heritage organisation, CADW. My ‘fresh pair of eyes’ and original outlook allowed me to advise on ways they could creatively combine literature and beautiful landscapes. I also encouraged a collaborative approach. As they shared ideas, information and resources this had a very beneficial impact on local communities and created a positive image of Wales. Being so closely linked with a large literature and arts festival, I had the opportunity to engage with local areas to help enhance community spirit. For me, this was an essential part of the festival from the start. I was involved with big undertakings such as a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a new exhibition and a quirky theatre show that took a surreal tour through a small Welsh town. It involved cameos from many of the residents and singing from the local choir. There were smaller projects too that were equally rewarding including work with schools, community centres and the YMCA.

I have had much experience of working with groups and individuals from the art’s sector. I am regularly asked to read through theatre, TV and film scripts, as well as checking the content of adverts and promotional material. My role is to ensure that the information is accurate but also to find ways to make literature and the arts accessible to wider audiences. I am well practiced at giving interviews to the press and have written and presented a theatre show and a TV documentary.
